Research Manager
Dr. Shimoyama began studying planarians’ feeding behavior in high school and then graduated from the University of Tsukuba. She continued research of planarians in graduate school of Kyoto University and received her Ph.D. After working as a university teacher in science education and animal psychology, she worked as a URA at Utsunomiya University. In October 2024, she was appointed as a URA at Hokkaido University.
I am in charge of helping researchers obtain research funds, including Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research, in the External Funding Division. I want to do my best to support researchers so that they can do the research they want to do.
I applied for the URA position because I wanted to do research support work in Hokkaido, where my roots are.
I enjoy learning about the latest findings in various fields of research. There is no cedar pollen in Hokkaido.
While taking advantage of my hobbies, I also learned design and simple video editing as I was in charge of drawing diagrams and punch pictures for research funding applications and research publicity.
I live with planarians. I make many products of planarians, birds and other animals.
