Career history

After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Ms. Takeuchi passed certification exams for legal professionals, including those for judicial and administrative scriveners. Through her work in managing a private office and serving as the branch manager of a major judicial scrivener firm, she gained experience in all aspects of corporate, real estate, personal, and international legal affairs. She has written for publications including Key Points and Sentence Examples for the Preparation of Corporate Meeting Minutes from the Perspective of Tax Affairs (in Japanese, Shinnippon-Hoki Publishing Co., Ltd.) and Encyclopedia of Corporate Legal, General, and Personnel Affairs (Extra Edition to Kigyo Jitsumu (Corporate Practices), in Japanese, Nippon Jitsugyo Publishing Co., Ltd.). She has also worked as an English-to-Japanese and Japanese-to-English translator since she passed Grade 1 of the EIKEN Test in Practical English Proficiency with an Award for Effort, and has translated numerous contracts, business documents, manuals, video teaching materials for Python and other programming languages, and the like. She was awarded a prize for special mention in the ALC Translation Contest.

Responsibilities as a URA at Hokkaido University

Since assuming the URA position in April 2020, she has mainly been in charge of general university ranking tasks, analysis of ranking results and proposals based on such results, among other responsibilities. In April 2022, Hokkaido University ranked first in Japan and within the top 10 in the overall global ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2022. The huge response those rankings drew left a great impression on her. Going forward, as well as improving the university’s position in the rankings, she will also focus on strengthening the brand of the university.

How I became a URA at Hokkaido University

I applied for the position because I wanted to experience a job I had never done before. As luck would have it, I was hired.
